Hulu regularly screens French movies for free from the Criterion collection. It's great as long as you can tolerate commercials. I'm a subscriber to Hulu now, but I saw many classics like Les Enfants du Paradis, Diabolique, Ma Nuit Chez Maude, and many movies by François Truffaut, for example. You just have to check back every week to see what Criterion has curated for the if you have Netflix, you can use a Chrome app called Hola to trick it to thinking you're in France, which increases the collection of French movies considerably, and they even have sous-titres available in most cases, which I find to be very helpful. Netflix isn't free, of course, but so many people have it that I figure it's worth mentioning. You can easily switch back to your home country once you are done.
